You can rely on NOA to give you the very best tuition for you first experience of SUP as we are a fully accredited ASI SUP School and the only professional SUP School in the Norfolk Broads National Park area. Not only are we professional SUP Instructors, but we’re also Instructor Trainers and only one of 4 locations in the UK that are - therefore we really feel that we know SUP and can offer you the very best in SUP knowledge and tuition.

In our Beginners Dog SUP sessions (yes, totally suitable for beginners to SUP) - you’ll learn the all of the basics of SUP in order to get you able to control the board both on your knees and of course standing - then you’ll be invited to ‘go fetch’ your pooch to get it accustomed to the board and water, then we’ll head off for a bit of a paddle - both human and pooch seamlessly gliding across the water together!

Overview & Aims

To learn to Stand Up Paddle with correct technique, confidence and to learn safety in enclosed flat water locations - which is essentially The Norfolk Broads - oh, and to bring your best friend too for a super time out on the water for the both of you!

Sessions last on or around 2 hours…


Swim 50 metres (164 ft), without stopping - (if you’re a non-swimmer then please contact us as we can still teach you but on a 1:2:1 basis - contact to arrange)

Minimum age 10 years - no upper age limit - SUP is for all…! (a parent/guardian must be present if under 16)

Paddle Skills Learnt

  • Enter and exit the water correctly from a variety of situations - both with and without your dog

  • Paddle in standing and kneeling position with balance and confidence

  • Demonstrate correct method to change direction

  • Demonstrate turning - back paddling left and right

  • Demonstrate how to stop safely and with control


Is there a minimum age requirement to participate on these sessions?

We operate a minimum age of 10 years old for these sessions - this is due to the length of the session, potential weather conditions and also equipment levels.  

Do I need to be able to swim?

Yes, due to the aquatic nature of SUP we ask that you can confidently swim a minimum of 50m unaided. Should you not be a swimmer then we will still happily take you out, but this must be booked on a private 1:1 basis - please enquire directly is this in more suitable for you on:


Do I need any other clothing?

It is highly advisible that you bring a change of clothing just in case of any 'accidents' - and we advise that you paddle in quick drying layers, so base, mid layer (fleece) etc - anything that closely relates to gym or workout clothing.  Shorts or leggings are advisable and we advise paddling barefoot or wet shoes in colder months. If you have your own wetsuit then please feel free to bring it as it can certainly help keep you warm especially in the early part of the season (March for example) - however in the warmer summer months you’ll probably cook..!

If you have a Buoyancy Aid for your dog, then please bring it as this is something that we are not able to provide - however if not, then most dogs are pretty good swimmers naturally!


Are there any further forms to fill in?

Yes, before the start of any activity you will be required to complete and sign a 'Client Detail Waiver' form


Cancellation due to inclement weather:

All lessons, trips, experiences are subject to weather conditions and availability of instructors/guides and maybe be cancelled or postponed at short notice. Should this be the case then you will be notified as soon as possible and offered a gift voucher or unique code which will enable you to re-book for any of our sessions in the future and will be valid for 1 year from date of the cancelled session.

Participant Cancelation:

Participant cancellations within 7 days of the date of the booked event are subject to 25% cancellation fee.  No refunds will be given for cancellations received within 24hrs of the date of the event. 

Are there minimum booking requirements for a session to run?

Yes, as you can understand it takes quite a lot of organisation and planning to run our sessions successfully, therefore we will only run our trips if we have received the minimum booking numbers to make the trip work on the day. In the case of this trip the minimum bookings required will be 4 people booked on in advance of the session date. Should the session look like it will not take place due to insufficient bookings then it will be postponed and you will be sent an ‘Experience Gift Voucher’ for you to use on a future dates and will be valid for 1 year from original booking.

Notifications of postponements/cancelations will be emailed to all pre-booked parties by 5pm the night before.
